Another Baar Scores At Catterick!!

Another Baar finally got back in the winners enclosure at Catterick after a frustrating losing run. He’s been a horse that’s ran well in defeat but just not quite got his head in front, that all changed as he was given a lovely ride by Oisin Mcsweeney.

Congratulations to connections including his owners Think And Become.

Belvedere Blast Wins At Market Rasen!

Belvedere Blast came flying late to pass his opposition at Market Rasen. Henry Brooke gave him a peach to deliver him right at the opportune moment.

He’s a horse who is a real yard favourite (not that we have favourites of course!) We were all delighted to see him get his head in front for a seventh, yes seventh time!!! Well done to his loyal owners the Swanland Partnership!

SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES WINNER!

Better And Better Wins In The Sky Bet Sunday Series under Oisin Mcsweeney at Haydock.

It was an impressive victory and we are all delighted at the yard!

He travelled sweetly and when Oisin asked him to quicken the response was immediate.

A thoroughly professional performance for a young horse and there’s plenty more to come.

A winning time of 1 min 12.75 seconds is impressive on the clock, too, with a FSP of 99.67%, the best of the field, showing he was hitting the line strong!

Well done to all the team and the owners Al Leith Racing Club!

Our second big winner in the past week!

Secret Hideway Goes To France!

Secret Hideway heads to France on Sunday, which will be hugely exciting. She runs in the Prix Six Perfections-Europeen de l'Elevage G3 Contest over 7f at DEAUVILLE, she is to be ridden by the world class Christophe Soumillon.

This filly has always shown us she’s got something special about her — tough and full of heart — and we’re absolutely buzzing to see her step Into Group company again, this time on international soil.

She came out of her last run well and has been thriving in herself. At Ascot, things didn’t quite go right but she was third of 7 in her group in a very hot G2 contest in the Queen Mary. Many winners have come out of it since like the winner on the day, True Love demolishing a G2 field by 5 lengths and Spicy Marg, who won at Glorious Goodwood this week.

Every time we’ve asked a question of her, she’s gave her all, and we’ve no doubt she’ll give it her all on Sunday. It’s a competitive race, as you’d expect at this level, but she’s earned her place at the table and we’re excited to see how she stacks up.

Travelling abroad is never easy — there’s a lot of moving parts and pressure behind the scenes — but the team has done a brilliant job getting everything in place, and we couldn’t be happier with how she’s shipped over.

It’s days like this we all work towards. To have a filly representing the yard in a Group race abroad is a proud moment for everyone involved.

We’ll be cheering her on every step of the way, and whatever the result, she’s already done us proud.

Good luck to her connections and owners Medallion Weston Trommer Shanahan Hyde.

Let’s see what she has up her sleeve!!

A Very Impressive Debut Winner!

Reflecting on the Day

What a thrill it was to see Rochfortbridge break his maiden at 28/1! Heading to Ayr, we quietly believed in his talent, but to see him produce a finish like that… absolutely special.

Connor rode a confident, patient race—keeping him close, and then letting him stride on from over 1f out. He dug in when Thesecretadversary, the odds-on favourite, came back at him. To see him hold firm by three-quarters of a length is a credit to both the horse and the ride.

Race Breakdown

  • Ground & Time: Good‑to‑Soft, completed in 1m 33.12s — solid given the slow ground conditions.

  • Top Speed Of 40.34MPH Again Impressive given conditions over 7f.

Trainer Notes Post-Race

  • Attitude & Brain: He’s shown a lot of intelligence at home— his work has been consistent, and today it translated beautifully.

  • Pedigree Promise: By the all conquering Mehmas, out of Annual (a Noble Mission mare), he promised stamina and a bit of toughness, which is just what he showed. He’s also from a top farm in Tally-Ho

  • Path Ahead: We’ll look to step up in grade in good time, a TFR of 93 suggests he’s no mug, anyway!

Thank You Notes

  • A big thank you to Connor Beasley—his tactics today were spot on!

  • Grateful for the unwavering support of our owner partnership, J Fyffe, S Fyffe & Partners.

  • And of course, thanks to the back‑room team—the lads & lasses at the yard who keep horses like this well‑conditioned, behaved and ready to fire.

Thanks for reading the blog! Follow along for updates on this exciting colt as we plan the next steps!

Listed success for Secret Hideaway

York is a very special place. The people, the facilities, the racing - it’s pure class. We love having runners there, and it’s one of the finest places in the country to train a Winner.

We assembled a team of 7 runners across the 3 days of the Dante Festival, but it was Secret Hideaway who got one on the board on day 3, winning the Listed Clipper EBF Margate Fillies Stakes and in fine style too under PJ McDonald for Owners Mr & Mrs Shanahan.

A lovely rangey filly who we’ve always thought a lot of. We knew the track would improve her a lot first time out at Ripon, and she is still a narrow filly who will improve again with time. What she lacks in size, she makes up for in heart. We wish they were all as honest and straightforward as her!

She’ll get 6 furlongs and goes well on the ground - the Royal Ascot dream is alive!

She’s a pleasure to train and many congratulations to Owners Mr & Mrs Shanahan, as well as my team at home.

Earlier in the week, Maghlaak ran a screamer on the first day, only going down a neck under Conor Orr for Owner Jimmy Fyffe. And neither Romieu or Going Commando were disgraced on the second day for Nick Bradley Racing and Keatley Owners Group, Hart & O'Neill.

It’s been a wonderful few days with friends old and new, thank you to my team and owners for their continued support - I am a very proud trainer.

It was agonising watching our star girl Surrey Bell in last week’s Chester Plate. She lead everywhere apart from the line for the Keatley Owners Group - but we’re confident another win is only around the corner and it’s brilliant to have a mare as versatile as her. She’ll continue to be great fun for Owners through the Summer, and there are shares available!

It continues to be a very busy time of year, with Summer jumpers on the go, flat horses in full swing and regular sales to attend and find new stock.

Adrian will be at Goffs next week for the stores & horses in training sale - should anyone wish to get involved please do give him a call 07768 882658.

Welcome to our new website!

We hope you enjoy looking around, getting to know us and keeping up to date on all the latest from Keatley Racing.

It’s been an exciting start to 2025, with the horses in great form and some impressive building works happening at home.

We are delighted to have our new barn up and running, which houses 20 horses alongside our original courtyard of stables - all have deep beds, automatic water drinkers and are well ventilated, ensuring every horse enjoys the highest level of comfort.

There will be further expansions in time which include another barn, a new office / tack room block and the transformation of the original swimming pool into a water walker. It’s all go!

We were very proud to see Gale Mahler back in the Winners Enclosure at The Scottish National Meeting a fortnight ago for owner Jimmy Fyffe under Brian Hughes. Hopefully she will continue to progress from here and may have another nice race in her.

It’s great to have the turf season back in full swing and we’re off to a flyer with Green Pursuit our first of the season for owners Eco - Power Racing under Connor Beasley. He was green enough and will certainly improve for more experience but looks a lovely horse going forwards.

Our legend Kihavah took home another nice pot winning the valuable Virgin Bet Queen’s Cup at Musselburgh last week under PJ McDonald for Owners JAB. He has been the most wonderful horse for us - we hope to go back to The Ebor this Summer and go one better than last year.

We were delighted our first runner for Nick Bradley was a winning one, with Romieu scoring impressively at Redcar under Sam James. He was bought for just 18,000gns and conceded plenty of weight to his rivals - he looks a very smart prospect.

It’s such a busy time of year with the National Hunt horses still on the go, the flat getting into full swing and sale season beginning. Adrian continues to be working through the sales catalogues and attending all the sales across UK / Ire - if you are interested in joining us please don’t hesitate to get in touch 07768 882658.
